# I just wanted to say a very big THANK YOU to all the staff of Apollo Hospital - Delhi and Erco Travels Pvt.Ltd - Delhi, who cared for me during my stay at apollo Hospital - Delhi when i had my double hip replacement in Januay 2006.
I had never been in Hospital before and felt very nervous and apprehensive at the prospect.This apprehension was compounded by the fact thet the hospital was over 9,000 miles from my home and family.I needn't have worried as everyone was friendly, kind and helpful and immediately put me at ease.
There was also such a good team spirit between the staff. I would like to give special thanks to my Doctor and his fine staff of associate Doctors. All the doctors are superb and specialist in his field. They always took time to explain to me all the procedures and options open to me. A special thanks to my therapist and the excellent therapy department at Apollo hospital.They had with me and direction for my rehab which is so greatly apperciated and was speed my recovery. What can i say of Apollo hospital nurses, thank you for the superb care and the many smiles in my moment of concern and loneliness. They made me feel very good and comfortable about my stay. The housekeeping staff is the best i have ever seen.No other hospital that i have been in exemplifies the cleanness that i have seen at Apollo hospital.Cleaning my room 3 times a day and aiding with my care and never complaining. Unknown to the staff of Apolo hospital i actually celebrated my 16th wedding anniversary- I must admit i would rather have been given a bottle of Champagne than a drip bottle.Seriously though your wonderful treatment did get me better very quickly and help to restore my life to me.
Also a very big thanks to Erco Tavels Pvt.Ltd - Delhi who suggess me to done my treatment at Apollo hospital and also arrange my appoint ment and sent me lots of informations regarding my treatment before my arrival in India.A special thanks to Mr Prem- Erco travels Pvt.Ltd. who was with me at the time of visiting Apollo hospital for pre op / admitting / at the time of operation and also came to meet me after the operation and arrange all necessary things for me to recover soon.

8. 인도의 의료관광
인도는 의료관광객들에게 가장 많이 권유되는 나라중 하나이다. 특히 인도는 심장수술과 고관절 성형수술(resurfacing) 그리고 향상된 신약이 적용되는 지역으로 유명하다. 아마도 2005-6년에 의료관광으로 세계에서 인도가 가장 많이 뉴스에 회자되었으며, 인도 정부와 민간부문이 함께 이 산업에서 세계를 앞서 가기 위해 노력해 왔다.
인도 의료산업의 특장점은 저렴한 의료비용이다. 대개의 경우 미국이나 영국에서의 치료비용의 10분1 수준이면 인도에서 치료가 가능하다. 게다가 인도 병원들은 서구에서보다 더욱 환자 개인에게 충실한 의료서비스를 제공한다. 예를 들어, 첸나이에 있는 마드라스 메디칼 미션 병원에서는 87세 환자의 복합 심장수술을 시술했는데, 환자의 왕복항공료와 1달간의 체재비를 포함하여 8,000 U$이 들었다고 한다. 그 환자는 미국에서 그 보다 덜 복잡한 수술을 했었는데, U$40,000 이 들었다고 주장했다. 또 영국에서 피검사, 심전도검사, 가슴 X-ray검사, 폐검사 및 복부 초음파검사등의 종합건강검진비용이 345 파운드(U$574)이 드는데에 반해, 인도 델리에 있는 건강검진센타에서 최대 비용이 U$84 에 불과하다.
인도에서는 고관절 수술에서도 앞서고 있다. 미국에서는 고관절 대체수술만이 가능하지만 인도에서는 고관절성형술(Hip Resurfacing)으로 고관절 전체를 대체하지 않고도 동일한 결과를 얻을 수 있다. 델리에 있는 에스코트 심장병원에서는 매년 거의 15,000여건의 수술을 시술하며, 수술 후 환자들의 사망율은 0.8 퍼센트로 미국 병원들의 그것보다 반도 채 안된다.
인도의 의료관광이야말로 세계인들에게 가장 좋은 선택이다. 매년 수백만명의 환자들이 인도에 치료받으로 오고 또 회복기 동안, 휴가를 인도에서 보낸다. 인도는 세계적 수준의 의료시설을 병원에 갖추고 미용성형, 치과치료, 심장 수술, 심혈관 우회수술, 심장 검사, 심장판막 교체, 무릎관절 교체, 눈 수술등의 의료서비스를 현대적인 방법과 전통적인 방법 모두를 사용하여 제공한다.
인도가 의료관광으로 벌어들이는 수입은 2012년까지 20억불에 도달할 거라고 추산한다. 2003년에 인도재무장관인 자스완 싱은 인도를 "세계 건강 여행지"라고 주장했다. 하지만, 인도의 의료관광의 성장을 붙잡는 가장 큰 장애물은 열악한 사회 인프라와 일류 호텔이 부족하다는 것이다. (다음 포스트에 계속)
